The Investment Companies Team within the bank covers all aspects of closed end funds and is extremely well known as the market leading unit providing expert broking and advisory within corporate finance, sales, research and market making.

What You Will Be Doing
As Junior investment Analyst you will be an important member of an already established and winning team. You will be analysing and advising various corporate's on primary and secondary issues, therefore you will spend time in front of the client building relationships. You will be involved throughout the whole process and be given extensive and in depth training by an established and award wining team.

What They Are Looking For
You must be a minimum 2:2 graduate in any subject. You will be confident, intelligent and hold superb academic qualifications. You will also have some exposure to the finance industry- this should be apparent from your CV.

Now I cant decypher the jargon so what does it mean by "analysing and advising various corporate's on primary and secondary issues".

I actually wanted to work with traders as an analyst but this should give me some experience right?

Anyway, I'd be grateful if any professionals could give me a quick breakdown of what exactly this position would entail because the recruitment company wont release any details in case i cut them out. TBh id probably undercut other candidates on salary if i went direct lol.

You have to ask... what with all the people floating around looking for jobs, why they are hiring new grads (training costs) that are underqualified compared to the market?

They could probably find someone much more suitred for the role if they actually tried looking.

Erm I think what they're doing is purging the last generation of analysts. They've been scapegaoted as causing the problems to save the bosses jobs so in come people like me with zero experience or "bad habits"

That spec is waaaaay too generic lol.

Looks like they want someone to join their investment trusts team - the clue is in the job description: 'The Investment Companies Team within the bank covers all aspects of closed end funds and is extremely well known as the market leading unit providing expert broking and advisory within corporate finance, sales, research and market making.'

A bit of a dead-end job in itself, but if it gives you a foot in the door into the City could be interesting. No harm in digging further, although the sceptics may well be right (ie that this is a fishing expedition - made more likely given the advert isn't even punctuated properly...)

I was sceptical at first but I dug up the agency on companies house etc and they are really small and therefore it can be logically deduced that they have sh*t, low paid staff. I think that this is why the grammar was poor.They are basically sub-contracted by other larger agencies.

Whatever anyway. If it's real it's real and I'll go for it.

You think working in an investment trust is a dead-end? It sounds like an interesting role to me but then I'm an accountant at the moment lol.
