Newbie to forum

Newbie here, recently retired and starting to play with day trading. Using Fidelity's ATP software and getting frustrated with computer hesitation and lockup. Thinkin I need a new machine to play the game. Current hardware=HPxw4300 PENT4-3Ghz - 2.5GB ram-NVIDIA quad video card x 2 monitors - WindowsXP.
I have been running 13<>14 windows in ATP, 6-7charts,2-3 watchlists, orders,quote, etc.
Load up takes about 3minutes
Anyone have experience with ATP? Do I need another software pkg or more horsepower?
I would rather get the bigger machine than learn a new software package but I'm interested to hear the conventional wisdom of the forum.

Hi Tom

Welcome to the forum. You'll have more luck getting answers to questions like this by posting your messages in the correct group. No matter, I'll try and help. The PC you have seems quite adequate to me for the job. Your problems may well be other running programmes that are taking up system resources and slowing your system down.

How does your computer run with applications other than ATP?

Have you run any anti spyware/malware/adware programmes to check there's nothing funny running on your PC? Do you have antivirus software running, if so which one?
