I noticed my son has access to the internet on the Wii !! Having now played with this myself I have to say thats its a comfortable way to surf on a big telly/sofa!

What concerns me though is viruses......anyone which means everyone, that has more techie knowledge than me....is it a problem, as presumably you can't put any anti virus protection on????

Most viruses are built to attack Windows-based systems. The Wii runs a stripped-down Linux platform as far as I'm aware, it would have to be a tailor-made virus to successfully attack you. If you're using a router its firewall should give you a decent level of protection - the majority of viruses have to be downloaded and/or executed by the user, and since on the Wii you do not download content except from the Nintendo website, they should be fine.

Not true skill - if you have downloaded the opera browser you can surf pretty much any webpage on the wii.

I do not know if there are any opera viruses/attacks but I guess it is probably something that could be exploited - after all the opera program itself is downloaded - so any malicious website could potentially find a loop hole to write its own software to memory.

However I wouldn't worry too much about it. What's the worst a virus could do? Erase your scores on wii games?

I don't think a virus would work on a wii, completely different format etc.

Besides, I doubt it could run.

Fair enough Hogs, I've got a 360 and a PS3 but I'd never use them for web browsing, seems pretty ridiculous to me.

Gears of War 2 is ruining my life.

It took me months to get a Gold medal on Wii Tanks, so this is definately a concern for me!!!
