Lag is a real killer in trading short term timeframes. It is a case of the quick and the dead.
For me, all lag does is cause uncertainty, delays in my decisions, loss of confidence in execution speed etc.
I am talking about IT related lag. This includes.
Charts - lag when scrolling through, annotating etc in eg. metatrader
Browser - slow to complete commands etc.
i have 4mb broadband, a high spec PC, and i still have lag.
I thought that my new PC would speed things up a lot more than it has, such as loading windows, closing down etc. I use XP Pro, and besides the greater ability for it to perform multitasking activities with far greater ease, it is still slow to load and close down XP. Just as slow as my 5 year old PC really.
IT lag makes the trading setup look & feel lothargic. This has a knock on effect for me as the user.
Wouldnt it be nice to have instantaneous IT facilities in 2008.
Unfortunately these things seem no crisper than 5 years ago really.
