Open Interest

On purely electronic trading platforms is there any real reason this couldn't be avaliable in realtime? ISVs keep track of ones position anyway so they could be made to update the trading host with this info. It would be a handy indicator to know if big clips were cross trades, opening or closing positions.

I have the same question. I guess it is only provided the next day, so if that is the case, not
available to a daytrader/scalper.

oanda has a bunch of 4 quadrant graphs, that are in the research lab section,
called "open positions" or similar. Unfortunately, I have never been able to interpret
the meaning of the graphs.
