Hello,

I just wondered if anyone on here actively trades just vols, not taking on delta exposure... I am getting ready to make the plunge into the markets, coming from a more analytical background, with a cheeky bit of broking thrown in... Would be handy to run a couple of ideas past people if they can help...

Also, does anyone have a decent recommendation for direct access brokers? got no interest in online brokers and spreadbetting. Final question - if anyone has any software suggestions, please let me know. The hardware is done, but I am used to using reuters and an exchange system that I wont have acess to. A fwe people have mentioned to me CQG - what is that like as a trade entry platform? Any use, or more just charting?

Thanks for your help, if ayone can :)

Hi there

CQG is the best around - but one has to pay for it - think its £350/month, not sure. Dunno about their trade entry/execution.

Discounnt direct access - Interactive Brokers is hard to beat. For retail traders - $4.16 for a round trip of futures. Their workstation is clunky but effective and fast. Many use their feed with a software prgramme for charting.

I also use Tradestation for their programming language ( Easylanguage) and charting. Problem with their brokerage services is one has to convert to dollars, so I use a minimal amount with them. The platform costs $100/month unless you trade 10 stndard lots of currenct every month etc...

HTH
