I subscribe to a realtime streaming quotes service and noticed some of the tickers have'(MM)' as a suffix. What does this mean? I note they are all very low penny stock companies so maybe that is relevant?

Thanks.

Market Maker (I think)

BB

I wondered about that as it is the obvious thing that comes to mind, but I am not sure of the context in which MM is being used if it is.

Which quotes service have you seen MM on? Can you post a screenshot?

I guessed MM as sometimes when a market maker wishes to sell stock and remain anonymous, they'll sell through an IDB. Maybe the MM signifies a market maker, but not which one???

Bull,

Thanks for your input. I think you might be right, although I am still a novice at all this and do not really comprehend the true role of the MM yet. I have been doing simple level 1 trades for several years but just stepped up to a level 2 quote service so I am still figuring it out. Here is an example:

Nutrition 21 Inc. (MM)(NXXI)
Click for Financials
Name Symbol Market Type ISIN Description
Nutrition 21 Inc. (MM) NASDAQ:NXXI NASDAQ Stock Market Common Stock
