For those long term investors out there, what kind of entry signals do you use?

Mine is only enter when the 40 week MA is upwards and then wait for a 12 week high to enter. (i.e. I only analyse weekly charts and enter when the cLosing price on friday is the highest closing price of the last 12 weeks)

I use price action to determine the best time to enter a market.

Look at this weekly chart of Wheat.

The market is rangebound for over 3 years and then we get a breakout of the previous highs in September 2006. The market rallies and then begins a retracement which takes us directly into an ascending TL. It touches it, rejects it and the market again rallies on the week forming a hammer candlestick pattern. (see red arrow) This weekly candle closes higher and we can see that the previous resistance has now held as support at the end of the week. From here the market rallies and breaks out of the descending TL (flag pattern). Finally, we test that descending TL. That is what the market does - it constantly tests levels to see where the value lies. So the TL that was resistance gets tested to see if it can hold as support. It does and we never look back :)
