Hello there,

I am new to trading, economics and financial world. As to understand and build knowledge I am trying to find good documentaries, movies to watch. Could you name me few?

Before creating this thread I tried to search for such topic which must have happened before, but I could not find any. Thank you.

What have you already watched sijon ? just so im not making a list of things you have seen..

Thank you so much Mike! really appreciate it. I have only watched few that I found searching for Economics those are
1) The Ascent of Money (y)
2) Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy (currently watching)
3) Freakonomics: The Movie

I have watched few movies also :
1) The Big short
2) Boiler Room
3) Wall Street
4) Rouge Trader

It would be fantastic to have a list of documentaries to watch and educate myself over the period of my Trading learning process.

Ok, try this for starters, highly recommended.. you can watch it full-screen on youtube...

Just remember they are buying shares, not trading on margin. Also using mainly fundamental analysis to enter trades. good watch though.

More Money Than God - Sebastien Mallaby

The Big Short was pretty good. I think I prefer books.

Forget Hollywood's attempts at this. They were made for entertainment not factual representations ( much too boring ).

As above loads of good stuff on U tube.

Hello Mike, just finished watching Million Dollars Traders was brilliant at times intense but also exciting! Will surely look for those audio books and thanks for the reviews (y)

I do like books and read them as well Hhiusa but documentaries, movies etc. has its place too, just to relax and visually soak in the information. :)

I agree Pat, Its about finding the right ones among the junks right :D

Hi sijon, the more you learn about trading, the more these documentary's will make sense. Its not something that can be learned over night unfortunately, Keep at it, and ask any questions on here should you need answers.

I like Margin Call.

You can also find a documentary on Australian futures traders on youtube. However I forgot the name of it... They follow a trader with the nickname Rambo, it's awesome!

Its all about how to keep averaging down because you know the trade is about to come good, until you run out of margin, then get the hell out of the country and drink cocktails by the pool while the bank goes down. Pretty sound strategy by any means...sounds a bit like triixx

Bulls and Bears 1998

Cracking watch - could almost be a comedy if it weren't so true. "Rambo" trading and trying to sort out his phone connection in a sarong during a storm in Far North Queensland is worth watching alone. (on youtube in 3 parts).

Yeah that scene is awesome! :D

Ultimately he just flies to the exchange right :) ?

Also was quite intrigued by the guy who almost lost his home... Especially when they interview his wife about his trading.
