Hi guys,

I'd like to ask your opinion about which do you think is the best way to get a job as a professional trader?

I have a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Finance from a top 10 university plus one year of work experience in a business related sector. I also have very strong IT skills but yet I'm not getting invited in interviews. I've tried multiple trading firms but nothing seems to work out.

Do you think I should join a trading academy, like Schneider, for a period of let's say 6-9 months and try my luck later or should I just keep insisting on applying till something pops up? In the meantine, I'm privately trading in FX and Commodities market using online trading platforms so as to have a good grasp of the industry.

Cheers,

Kostas

There's a euro crisis right now and all the financial/trading firms are going bust along with all the European countries. Maybe try a different line of work like IT since you have teh skillz.

In the mean time post up your trading statements. If you can show a profit, maybe some people here with loadsa monies will hire you.

Just go to a recruitment agency and speak to them about re-drafting your CV and tailoring to the specific roles you're applying for. Your degrees mean that your CV won't be thrown out but they're not gonna get you a job over someone with experience. Consider looking for roles that will get you some more exposure to the environment without necessarily being directly involved in front office activities. Getting something in FS should be your first priority.

Hi Damian,

Thanks for your reply and for letting me know that Brighton is currently looking for new traders. I've already sent you my most updated CV and Covering letter at [email protected]. I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know about my chances in joining the trading industry, no matter if I'll be accepted in your program or not.

Many thanks,

Kostas
