TheBramble's Random Squawk

Thailand to raise 2012 GDP growth forecast next month from 5.5%. EU would die for those sort of data.

BTW not a lot of people know this, but if you average out debt across the entire EU (not just the EZ) you get a get to GDP of just 87%. Makes the recent proposal from the Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Entwicklun (German Council of Experts) seem quite sensible. Repackage EU debt through Euro-bonds but only down the 60% of GDP level for each constituent EZ country. Funding to be met by 25-year bond and serviced through increase to VAT.

Possibly too late for Greece, but it could stave off an EU melt-down.

Within the next 5 years China's Debt to GDP is expected to exceed 10%. Whoa! Tie me down.

Mind you, that's based on sub-sovreign debts being paid (hugely unlikley as they’re all effectively bankrupt) and GDP growth at around 7.75% (which seems reasonable of current projections).

China is still the place to be and invest and if you have kids, get them to learn Chinese.

European shares are up this morning apparently on the fact that a weekend poll in Greece showed growing support for a Conservative pro-austerity ticket. This afternoon they’ll as likely be down on some equally totally unrelated but apparently quite rational basis.

Richard, I'm being paid on a post-click basis. If you leak this PM to anyone or use that member-theft software to make it look like someone else is hijacking my account, I'll still know it's you.

BTW - I still have the negative of you and Rebekah (Is it just me or is she hot in a celtic kind of way...?)

China coming out again and condemning most recent Syrian massacre (Houla). A good sign that the boys are looking to further integrate and involve themselves with the Global community and are saying what they think we want them to say. Regardless of their own back-yard, they’re key players for the next few decades, at least and it’s heartening to see they are keen to show that know how to play the game.

anyone think that bird off the coca cola olympics advert looks shockingly like rebekah brooks

That photo is one of my badges of honour........stop drooling (or whatever) over it.
Yes, she has a fascinating je ne sais quoi.

Thailand is doing rather well all in all. Unemployment (Q1) down to 0.73% from 0.83%. More data the EU would die for.

Theresa May: we'll stop migrants if euro collapses

Not too sure how the legalities of that might work, but driving a coach & four through EU directives and legislation seems par for the course.

Our French friends do that all the time and just call it a porte-cochere :)
