Hi,

The UK Balance of Payments will always have a credit/debit payment aka the balancing item in the accounts to ensure the current account and capital account balances overall and which cannot be accounted for!

So basically for all the ONS's efforts, they just make it up. Seems strange to me...

Anyone trade off the balance of payments/just a small cog in your overall strategy/ignored all together?

Historically in gbpusd spot anyway it isn't much of a market mover..ie the actual number released has to be a surprise to see any kind of noticable reaction. The market is well used to the figure being negative (ie Uk being a net importer) so it's just a question of degree, with the export side more closely examined.
