Are currency pairs related in some way?

Hi guys

Let's say that the USD/CHF pair sees great demand, pushing prices higher. Will this great demand for US dollars be shown on other USD pairs,eg. higher USD/JPY, lower EUR/USD?

The best thing you can do is pull up a load of charts and have a look. Check out the big picture and also see how they react around big news releases.

That said, yes, there is a high degree of correlation of course. But at the same time it isn't quite that simple as different currencies have characteristics, different factors that affect them etc. For example, there are safe haven ones, ones that are particularly affected by oil, there is the carry trade etc etc etc.

Currencies are not my thing at all, but there are a few guys on here that are quite knowledgeable about it so hopefully someone will come along with a better answer for you.

Oh and don't ignore the sentiment indexes that the likes of Dukascopy offer/publish, very under rated tool IMHO.

Should you really be giving trading advice? Not trying to be funny, but you've admitted that you failed as a trader and have already moved into PR and marketing, whatever that means.

:D I was finding trading currencies easy, I needed to bite off more than I could chew, the future is so bright I've just bought two extra pairs of Oliver Peoples sunglasses..

So you gave up currency trading not because you failed but because you found it too easy?:LOL:

BS, you seem like an OK guy but this fantasy of yours is not healthy. Plus it just makes you look foolish as no-one will believe you.

It has been clear for a long time that you don't have a scooby what you're doing. You went very nasty a few months back (have since become better) and I think it likely that you were taking out your rage, despair and frustration on the forum. It was probably during that period that you finally threw in the towel.

There's no shame in failing; most people do. But you should not pose as someone who knows what they're doing, that's all.

My issues?

I'm not the one that's been a dick to all and sundry, especially struggling noobs, spouts the most obvious crap about trading so that it's clear to one and all that he's a complete walter, and then claims to be giving up trading because it's too easy!

I notice you weren't able to challenge a single thing in my post. I suppose it's easier to trot out your tired and weird phrases rather than face the truth...bless ;)

Good point. That reminds me of, erhm, you with your an4l sh*t ? You don't ever see me getting in a bad way like that. That's the difference between a good trader and a bad one. The bad ones could never control their emotions. They crack up under fire. I laugh in the face of a bad market. Why, I even average down and laugh.

Not necessarily. Could be weakness in the Swissy. And/Or strength in he Dollar.

If all the Dollar pairs are lifting, then yes, self evidently, the Dollar is showing strength against he pairs it's buying more of. I'm really trying not to laugh, but it's these basic things that sometimes need to be explicated.

If the dollar is lifting all but the euro and the euro is lifting the dollar then the euro is stronger than the dollar which is stronger than everything else but the euro.

Best not to attempt to infer what 'this' might 'mean' and just look as what 'is' happening, if you get my drift.

I think you're making a pretty fundamental error there, although it's a perfectly understandable one. You're confusing being unable to control ones emotions when trading with enjoying some lulz on a forum. Considering I'm up 16.5% for July I'm not having too much of a bad time, financially or emotionally (although I did miss out on an additional 5% or so through a mistake in stop trailing today - I was short YM before the open, but I landed only 1.75%).

As for anal sh1t, that's what most people have. You do too, although most of your sh1t seems to be verbal.
