Hi,

Just wondering how people explain to others outside the trading world how we as traders can profit from declines in the market?

Thanks.

If there is a decline in the market, it is usually a signal for swing/position traders to place orders and hoping that the market will be bullish and could go long and gain a lot pips.

Don't even think about it. Just take the profits. :)

Just don't bother. If you do become profitable (judging by some of your posts this is a very big "if") you will quickly realise that there is no point in talking to people about it. Most of them are simply incapable of understanding, and do not want to understand in any case. Most people either want tips on how to make easy money, or if not they want an excuse to start talking about it so they can condemn it out of ignorance.

agree with you man trying to get through to some people about this game is worse than getting your balls kicked in.

a lot of people are financially illiterate... money to them is to be hoarded away in a low interest bank account or spent ASAP before it gets taken by pixies

when my friends (non traders) ask about my trading at uni i just explain it with as much jargon as i can, then if they ask more i give them a less jargon riddled answer

CFDs are quite easy to explain because the name is quite intuitive i find although people hear the word "contract" and immediately conclude it's a scam
