So like what books have you read outside of trading but have helped you along?

rite u bummers heres three for a starter:

Zen in the art of Archery
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zen_in_the_Art_of_Archery
(really really good if you are a scalper)

Golf is not a game of perfect
http://www.amazon.com/Golf-Not-Game-Perfect-Rotella/dp/0743508092
(Some of the stuff is golf specific but the "Bobs Rules" part is dead good)

On the Psychology of Military Incompetence
http://www.amazon.com/PSYCHOLOGY-MI...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
(nice book on how to do your conkers and quite good reading anyway)

thats one of mine too bramble :)

on the bhuddism theme... err.. Buddhism Plain and Simple, Steve Hagan

(obv. Im talkin about the motorbike book. Are you pullin my chain with the other one? What did you take from it? Serious question)

I sense a serious question so I’ll give a serious answer.

We think we’re pulling the chain and the atoms dance and do what we tell them to do as we know so much about them. They’re actually yanking our chain.

They have always been and will always be. We’re just passing through.

Don’t take it, yourself, anyone or anything seriously.

What we think we know is not just wrong, it’s just completely unrelated to what is. We can never know what is, really is. The more strongly we relate to or believe as ultimate truth in any concept or model, the harder we find it to change or just let it go. And the more of a bias we put on everything else we think we begin to know based on what we think we already know. Perceptual filters. You get more like who you unless you snap out of it.

A bucket of water spinning on a rope. That’s what started it.

We’re skimming the surface of what is and think we’re in control and in reality we have no real idea what we’re doing.

Don’t look for deep structure in what can adequately be utilised at a superficial level.

The Yoga Master; Essays and Appreciations
The Prince: Niccolo Machiavelli

It's more general, based on buddhist concept of detachment but wrapped up a little differently. Nothing you probably don't know/haven't thought about but it's not bad.

its only a matter of time before someone says "art of war" so Ill get that out the way.

So far book list reads like some Argos single mums philosophy book club that anything else :?

The Yoga Master; Essays and Appreciations
The Prince: Niccolo Machiavelli

BlackSwan did you copy his strategy?

imagerepository.ashx

This is an excellent idea. I'll add a few:

“Letter from Self-Made Merchant to his Son” by George Horace Lorimer
“Theory of the Leisure Class” by Thorstein Veblen
"An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith
"Secrets of Professional Turf Betting" by Francis Bacon

Nothing I ever read helped me along. So I attend class at the school of hard knocks instead. That is beginning to work for me ... I think.
