Hi,

Am reading a couple of books on options pricing and really enjoying it! Just wondered if there are any quants here who could give a description of a typical day as a quant.

Thanks.

There are different types of quant Scotty, so it varies.

My own experience: 90% coding (C++, Java etc), checking code, optimising code, 10% maths/explaining maths.

I suppose if you are very smart maths-wise (not just PhD smart), you could get one of the more academic type quant jobs, but those are rarer and I'm not smart enough, so someone else will have to tell you about that.

thanks,

I have Mark Joshi's guide and book and was probably looking at front office/desk quant. Or whoever gets to do the most pricing, maths bit etc .
