Hi, I was wondering what would happen to the USD if it was no longer the worlds reserve currency. would it just slide out of view or would it actually strengthen.

As i've got my account in USD I was thinking that maybe long term it might be better to change( although not when it's at these lows!) But then which currency do you have it in because quite honestly they all seem like worthless sh!te to me.

Pretty much over money at the moment, the more I think about it, the more I think it's the biggest con in history.

Ok, starting to ramble now so i'll just shut it. Be grateful for any informed insights into the resrve currency thing though.

Cheers (confused from christchurch!)

If the USD were not the major reserve currency it might actually be stronger because there wouldn't need to be as many dollars in the global econony, so the USD supply would decline. It would depend on how that compared with the impact on reduced demand, though.
