Hi,

Quite new to forex and was listening to a guy on you tube and he was trading £135 per pip value trades how on earth does he manage that is that even possible? I always though the most pip value was £10 as usually people trade 1 standard lot each time?

Thanks.

Companies like Oanda allow massive granularity. Or maybe he was spread betting.

Isn't trading more than 1 lot at a time not very risky? just imagine you traded 10 lots and lost 8 of them?

I think you might be getting confused (or possibly winding people up).

How do you "lose" a lot?
Brokers have been known to lose them down the back of the office sofa sometimes. There was also that one time a microlot got captured by Shining Path and held ransom in protest at capitalist practices within South America. Bad business that.

Risk is ultimately based on equity. That's my serious answer just in case you were being serious.

I know some guys that trade in £2000-£10000 per pip. Are you suggesting £135 a pip is a big trade or impossible to hedge? I don't get what you are saying.

There is a different pip value for every cross that fluctuates with the variance of the base currency of the trader.
