hey guys

Is it just me or is the market still a little slow.I know a few people said that they will start this week but the pair i'm looking at is so slow i keep checking to make sure i'm still connected.

Don't let others tell you want to do or seek advice. Take control of your own trading and do what you think is right.

ES moves were textbook yesterday in terms of where they occured BUT you didn't get a lot of move for your money.

Still there was money there to be taken off the table. Just not much.

I'm only wondering if it is a good time to be trading.New years were but a week ago.I have no expecience trading during these times because i'm usually not at home during the holiday season

I think its been a great start to the year, especially considering how bad December was...

Funny thing... December turned out to be a good month for me even though I decided to shut down some aspects of my trading. I would say it depends on your strategy.

I would say it depends on your strategy.

I couldn't agree more.

If you've got a strategy that involves first identifying what the market is doing, and then basing your tactics on that view, no reason why you can't trade anytime. Every single time I have taken the advice not to trade because of a holiday or such and such, I've reviewed the market later and seen that it would have been fine.

I just took a broad look at what my favoarite pairs did.SIdeways market all the way through.Wonder if it has anything to do with the holiday season. It's been a week since new year

Watch and act accordingly. Be careful, but it's not necessarily the case that "December's rubbish, August is crap" etc.

I had one trade last week, which went well. The action overall seemed good enough, I just didn't get any signals in the right circumstances. As DT says, ES yesterday didn't seem unusual, but again nothing I wanted to trade.

"Sideways" can be subjective, depending on your timeframe etc. Choppy daily can disguise nice trending on 15 minute and so on. Personally, I like to avoid it on my chosen view, but it is still worth watching because sideways action can be the set up for a good breakout.

My view is that a good set up is a good set up, regardless, although I do pay attention - if it's 16.00 GMT on a Friday, I'm not looking to enter a new trade. That said, look at ES on Friday 15 minute at 17.45 - a classic, basic reversal signal, with another to tell you to take profit just before the close.

I thnk theres a lot of tight ranges out there at the moment waiting for some direction.
I wouldn't put it down to hols. It could change at anytime.
