This article is a bit silly... Firstly, this average isn't too meaningful. Secondly, this whole "computer reading the news" thing has been going on for years. It's not like this is some sort of a recent development.

I only found out when I watched Alchemists of Wall Street a few months back. Before that I assumed algo trading was a load of ultra complex maths that "solved the market" .
On a related note, I read somewhere that there is a hedge fund opening up using an algo that reads twitter.
