..pile of cash. What institutional-level commissons and spreads could I get on a forex account? I mean, I'm just curious, what is the best deal out there? I guess EURUSD could get close to if not zero spread at times. But what about commisson?

All talk about HFT got me curious about what deals these hedgefunds have.

No matter how large your *** is, you won't be getting a zero spread on EURUSD. If you're an institutional guy with a large ***, you'll be dealing OTC with arnd 1 pip bid/ask and zero commission.

if you have a spare 25 million you could approach deutsche bank and after they conduct checks & deem you worthy of a credit line you may be able to get on their autobahn fx platform, which yes, has v tight spreads most of the time.

or for a minimum $50K opening balance you can open fxcm active trader account where eurusd spread is usually 0.5 - 1.5 spread. it can go lower than that but as im not a trading algo i often miss it. c'est la vie.

with all of these you of course pay a comission, and its simple, the more volume you trade the smaller the comms as with most brokers, prime or otherwise.

forgot to add: my ****, while not massive, enables me to pay the rent and spoil the b*****. as you were.

OK. So basically it's not so different than retail...larger *** gets you only so far :)

If I understand you guy correctly you still would have to pay transaction fees through spread-widening or commission. Next question, who would you pay transaction fees to? For me, it is the broker, and they presumably pay transaction fees to the banks that provides liquidity. But wouldn't it possible to bypass all this and trade straight on the interbank network? Same as the banks? Metals trader mentions 25 million to approach deutsche bank. 25 million for a big HFT hedgefund iprobably isn't too bad i guess. I'm just trying to understand under what conditions these hedgefunds trade.
