Go to www.7city.com Top drawer study material and lectures on DVD. Fully loaded course pack. FYI I have just passed the full IMC using the above firm - highly recommended.

Can anybody guide me that either OTM manual is sufficient for preparation or I have to enroll with BPPP/7City or trainer like this. I've a bit of background in Finance as I've done my MBA majors in Finance. 7city/BPPP are so expnesive...:(

Waqas,

Just check up before you do the IMC if that is what you are doing. My wife mentioned
the other day that her friend is doing the IMC and that the exams are changing to a new
title soon. I you have done Unit 1 but havent completed Unit 2 by the time
they change the qualification name you have to resit Unit 1 as it is part of unit 2 in the new syllabus.

How true it is i dont know but just have a check before you sign up.

Hi Ged,

Thank you for reply....My plan is to give both units in one time....but still not sure that either OTM manual is sufficient for preparation or not.
I mean that why I have to spend more than 500 quids in preparation for a 200 quid certification (correct me if I am wrong)...until it's really required. I just wanted to know that shud I join professional trainers like BPPP/7City for preparation or can I do it by myself by just reading & practicing OTM Manuals.

Many Thanks,
Waqas

Hi Waqas,

Ive completed my Cemap to be a mortgage broker on my own just by reading the manual and doing the mock questions. I am going to be sitting my CEFA 2 in 3 weeks time and ive studied that 1 at home on my own as well.

I trained years ago with what used to be the SFA and did the Regulations and Derivatives course with BPP. It cost me £600 for some prat to stand up and literally talk for 5 days solid without stopping to take a breath. Was just rushed and with 15 of us in that room they probably earnt about £9000. 4 others i spoke to only took the course because their bank paid for it and they got out of work.

Do the mock exams consistently until you can get near 100% on each try and you will notice areas you are weak on as you will get the same questions wrong.

Simply study that area more closely before the exam.

I pay my £135 quid for the materials and the exams and then buy the mock papers for around £30 to £40 and that does me. If you fail pay another £100 resit and you pass.

Saves you money regardless.

Thank you Gid, that's a very comprehensive answer...(like investment professional do...with numbers/figures).

In the light of your answers...I've decided to go with OTM manuals only.....will keep in touch with you if I need more guidance on that....:p

Thanks again for your prompt & comprehensive replies

Just found this on their site:

How will the IMC be affected by the Retail Distribution Review?

In the light of the FSA's consultation paper O931, published at the end of December 2009, we are working on identifying the most appropriate solution for those giving retail financial advice. .

The IMC will become a Level 4 qualification from 1 September 2010. We will clarify its role in meeting the RDR exam standards by the end of January 2010 through notifications on our website.

I passed in January and the certificate doesn't state IMC. It says I achieved the
CFA UK Level 3 Certificate in Investment Management.

Maybe that is the name change.

Any one selling IMC study material from 7CITY or BPP ..Thanks must be 8th editions and latest
