Hi,

I need a U.S. newswire for stock/oil/etc news.

I am basd in the UK.

It has to use automatic streaming (no manual refeshing!).

I would prefer a free one as I like most traders I have enough subscriptions!

However if I must subscribe I want a cheap one, just news needed no other bells or whistles required.

It would be nice to get the news on Ford junk bond status, WallMart numbers etc as soon as they come out.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

I will take a look at them when I get home tonight.

Do any of you use ADVFN? The streaming "up to the second" RNS newswire on ADVFN is exactly what I am looking for on the U.S. markets.

Many thanks however I still need help.

I need something "streaming" that is accurate to the SECOND.

Something like RNS that we have here in the UK.

Does anyone use ADVFN here and have experience the streaming news? That's what I want for the U.S.

Marketwatch looked good but it's not streaming.

Things like Bloomberg TV are entertainment only. By the time the presenters are talking about it on their autocue it's in the price.

S&P price jumped up yesterday after the news broke on the China currency (i think it was yesterday as all these days are merging into one!).

As a trader you can guess these moves are newsdriven but,

a) you want to know about them early so you can jump in;
b) you want to gauge whether it's a potential mkt reversal/tone setting piece of news such as the inflation numbers and oil report which we had today. Or whether it's a blip like last week when the light aircraft buzzed the whitehouse and ES jumped straight back.

As a trader you can't keep pressing "F5" to refresh you non-streaming news service.

Thanks for any help that anyone can give me.

Power,

One other thought is to use a RSS feed. Market Watch do about 15 different ones for various content sections of their site.
WSJ and BusinessWeek also do good ones to which I subscribe. It's free but not exactly up to date.
Might be of use.

If you want something like that then you will have to pay for it

powerbook,
Racer is right, in the end you have to pay for the best quality.
I've just authorised you for the private t2w forum. Sorry about the delay, but I've been busy recently building my own website.
Also it's worth remembering that the big investment banks will always beat you to the trade the instant market moving news comes out and you will normally experience significant slippage on your trades in such fast markets.

Thanks again.

I don't mind paying for it if I have to. Can anyone recommend some firms? I used to use ESignal for my charting and they offered such a newswire for only $50/month I think. However I am with Futuresource now (who don't offer such a service) and I don't fancy going back to Esignal.

Re: slippage, I'm not seeking the exact same entry level as the institutions. However knowing the reason for the engulfing pattern is still valuable. If it's big news such as oil falling below a certain $ level, then you know it will go for more than say 1 point. If you didn't know the reason for the move you would hardly join it.

Also I only trade 10 contracts at a time and have never experienced slippage of more than a tick. The second I click buy it goes through!

Thanks for adding me to the private forum - I will take a look soon.

So can anyone help me with the newswire? Surely there are some pro-traders here that use streaming news?

Hi,

Try either Flyonthewall.com (so-so) or realtimetraders.com (v good).

Both cost, and are streaming, realtime is $15 or $20pm not sure about fly.

If you use IQFeed as your data source then the feed is free.

The Beyonder,

Thank you so much.

realtimetraders.com looks F A N T A S T I C.

Will subscribe tonight.

Best wishes,
