Graphic design guru anybody ??

I have a little project on the go at the moment, Im trying to modify PDF / scanned copies of a design, im getting the PDF onto a 'word' document, then transferring over to 'paint' playing around with it, then back over to 'word' for the print out. But the results are not great.

I scan the can or advert, but i want to alter the text to toke tola, i need to catch / enhance the radiuses and curves of the original graphic to produce a really slick finish
