This can't be real, can it??

Has anyone tried it?
Surely, if conducted under rigorous scientific conditions, it would require us to re-evaluate our basic understanding of the world.

So, why do these urban myths continue?
What are reasonable alternative explanations?
(especially to the bending of the fork-tines to shape without physical touch)

(I want this exercise to be true)

There is a certain percentage of the population, a personality trait, that falls for this type of crap.

I would guess its the same type that falls for investment scams that promise huge returns.

You obviously haven't witnessed the power of mind demonstrations:cheesy::) I would have thought a man of your experience had a more open mind :);)

If I read these kind of threads, I realize it's no wonder people pay scammers money and when the truth comes out, they'd still like to believe it's all "bad luck" and nobody meant anything wrong.

Here's an interesting site from Derren Brown who uses a scientific approach (not the kind of pseudo-blahblah found on the types of sites trendie posted):

thanks. link appears not to work.
I simply have a fascination with "on-the-edge" ideas. simply because they challenge our current paradigm.

I refuse to constrain my imagination.

An open mind is great, but not as open so that your brains fall out.
one of my favourite sayings.

Are you still talking about the fork-bending or something else? ;)
Since this is the fork-bending thread, I am still talking about fork-bending.

See, I can put things into context, and compartmentalise my ups and downs. and not let them spill over into other aspects of my life.

Sorry, adjusted the link, it was www.scienceofscams.com.

I'm interested too in discoveries that challenge our current paradigm, but pseudo-science à la Uri Geller spoon bending or Utahna Tassie fork bending aren't part of it.

It's out there ?

Remember Doris Stokes (the medium). Stated that when she died she would later provide evidence of life after death. Guess what - the world is still waiting:LOL:

Hi Trendie,

I don't believe in this sort of stuff, however I do believe it is POSSIBLE. You see, I've spent a short time studying Quantum mechanics (very basic though). Basically when you get into it, you realise there is actually no "reality" as such, so things that seem "impossible" is just our limited imaganation, since everything we see, hear, touch, feel and taste are all made in our minds anyway. We create our own realities and there is no limit to our potentials. The human brain gets something like 6 trillion electric signals per day, but we only ever decode about 2 million of those. That being said, it's possible someone has managed, or been born with an ability to see and effect reality somehow, but they'd have to be a complete w@nker to just spend all day bending forks.

Uri Geller is worth millions - all through spoon bending...

If that's what being a complete w@anker does for you then hand me the box of kleenex:D

Actually Trendie the emofree technique is an extremely useful tool, though not for spoon bending I imagine (I haven't tried it, can't the point)

Brainwashing oneself with positive reinforcement prior to a trading day may well be beneficial to some.

True, but there are many videos on youtube where you can clearly see him using spoons pre-bent etc.

Well, if you could change reality itself and all you did is bend spoons, you would be a complete w@nker! You could create world peace, or at the very least, get the hottest ladies to undress infront of your very eyes!

This is actually true, I believe it's on a PDF online somewhere about positive thinking helping you trade better. Although not sure how well it works when you've lost 75% of capital in the last few hours and you think "it's okay, I'm still a great trader!!" :p
