Autumn Elections.

There is much expectation in the UK about the possibility of GB calling an autumn general election. Why should there be an election in autumn and not at Christmas, New Year or any time? If he does not call an election within 24 hours, he can't call an election on November 1, so I understand. Could anyone explain to me "So what"? Maybe he'll call one on December 1, but the general expectation is that, if he does not call one he'll stay the whole term.

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Gordon Brown will not call a general election this year, his office said on Saturday.

"We can confirm there's no autumn election," a spokesman for Brown's office said.

There is little expectation outside of planet politics. It's all media hype.

The only reason for gormless considering going to the polls really early is to cut 'n run. It's very illuminating that the Conservatives have done very well at the Blackpool conference.

It isn't much fun voting in the evening darkness. This is why autumn and winter elections are rare.

Right, thanks. I just wondered why the emphasis was on autumn. I was not thinking of winter weather. As usual, it makes good politics!
