Anyone ever heard of Gap Insurance?

It's a car protection insurance, eg, if you've got your car on finance and it gets written off, the insurance may only pay out £2000, the GAP insurance would then step in pay off the rest of your finance say the remaining £1000 if you owed £3000 on finance for example.
