How's this for a design. We elect a government like we normally do. Technology is brought into it and everyone has a single login and the system only allows one session for that login from a known device. When the government needs to discuss an issue, we all have an app on our phones or via a pc, or automated call service. The app provides a calendar of topics and you get a vote in each (one vote only) with the voting options being

yes, no, let the government decide

This system lets the people drive decisions and the government to implement them. It's the most effective way to get things done on a majority vote on every decision. Anyway back to reality

Not a bad one but who gets to decide what the vote is on and should there be a clear majority like +20%. Another problem is why should, say a college professor's vote be worth the same as the village idiot's ?
Look what a mess the Labour party have got themselves into being too democratic and giving their membership a vote on who is to be party leader. Many of their membership are tactical voters thinking Corbyn is really the worst candidate for Labour but the preferable one for the Tories and Liberals.

It's a start isn't it. There is a system used by tech companies to incorporate new features. People submit ideas and those ideas are voted on. The ones with the most votes gets implemented. I think there should be an area of government that is left off this and managed by government on its own. Otherwise people will be flooded. This idea is for the main direction of government so think of it as 60 percent people having their say and 40 the government getting on with churn.

That presupposes that the majority view is going to be the right one. Doesn't get you very far in trading does it
