The news is a poor representation of reality.

Everything in the news is beyond your circle of influence.

You don’t need to stay informed.

You’ll never know it all anyway.

If it's important someone will tell you.

Life without news is a beatiful healthy life try it but have to stay informed with trading stuff ...

News - hate it.

Most political and business news is trivia, mostly paraphrased press releases rather than investigative effort. It can be a massive black hole for your time.

I do track upcoming economic events in case I want to reduce risk by closing a position in advance of volatility. But I believe trading on anticipated good/bad news is guesswork. After the event, I still don't read the 'full story', the charts tell me what I should do next.

Couple of years later, I might read the book for education/entertainment. Rogue Trader was a great yarn. If its not important enough to be in a book, thats because its not important enough to read about.

news like anything else needs to be filtered, the ability to embrace sentiment through news in combination with technicality can give us an edge.

What happened to the pound? she went 100 pips up in 5-10 minutes...

Agree life is good without news, done about 12 week's with out the main stream news now.
It's become a habit now and don't miss it, was hard for the fist couple of weeks.

Used to be breakie TV news in the morning, read the news on the net during the day and news on the TV in the evening.

Also not read the trading data news, aware of data release's and just look at the reaction on the charts now with out reading that stuff.

Still reading the football(soccer) news, no plan to give that up.

I like to get a feel of what has been and what is coming.....lets say the Australian dollar releases negative news during the Asian session and goes down quite a bit then she pulls back just before Europe, here I will try to get in using technicality for the second leg down....and often she finishes at her low.

I do not trade news normally, but I monitor the outcome of the news in combination with technicality and see if I can profit from it, I know as in the case of AU that nobody wants it and if I can ride the wave, why not?

The worst aspect of the news is it is 95% bad news. People being killed in Africa, Middle East etc. Murders home and abroad is a favourite. I listen in to RT Russian news, CCTV Chinese news as well as the BBC. They have different angles on the news but it does concentrate their minds if they think millions are tuning in and judging them.

There was a good bit of news recently on the telly. That was England winning The Test Match ( cricket ) and Wimbledon.

All the bad news makes people morbid and fearful imho. I would like the first 5 minutes to be the good news and the rest I could do without. The news is like pouring petrol on the fire as the militants are well aware of and use disgracefully.

I agree fully.
I stopped reading the news several months back; I removed all the news sites from my browser favorites.
It all feels like just bs. Your life will instantly feel better...if you stopped reading news.

The only...semi-news site I have on my browser is MarketWatch.com
