It makes me sick. It's the only part of the game (when the time arrives 'it' is the game) that can be practiced in the true sense. The ball is always placed in the same place relative to the goal. When a player strikes the ball,he is looking at the fecking ball. The more times penalties are practiced, the better will be the player's awareness as to the location of the (at that time) unseen goal.He will be able to strike the ball with greater force and still keep it on target.Anyone who's learnt the guitar will remember having to literally place their own fingers on the frets to make a chord (and having to look at them). After a while the mental pathways become hard wired and it's possible to hold down a chord easily without thinking about it.It's so obvious that this is how we work that I can't understand how our players are sent to tournaments having not practiced the one part of the game (sometimes the game itself) that can truely be practiced.
