Telegraph has a picture of the victim. Apparently he tried to feed it to a snake as well. He's 23 and on disability benefits and has a staffordshire/pittbul cross. Who would have guessed it?

Perhaps a bit unfair, as regular T2W members are probably aware, hamsters seam to get a bad deal from a far wider spectrum of the social classes (n)
 
I wonder how he sustained his debilitating injury. Perhaps he was bitten by a rodent.

It must suck to be a hamster. A few years back I was working away at a university and one of the little yahoos put a hamster in an envelope and popped it in a post box. As it turns out the postman found the little fury critter and it thankfully lived happily ever after.

If this is the hidden joke that I'm thinking it was..... I unfortunately laughed pretty good at it... (n) for the 'bad deal', (y) on the wording!
 
i have to admit i clicked the thread thinking it was further tales of the posted hamster, which it isn't. so here's a pic of that heinous act.
