paypal / ebay

Hello. Ive only just started using Ebay. I made my first purchase the other day. All went fine. I paid by credit card (not paypal) I tried to buy something else last night. The seller only accepts paypal, but as far as i am aware it doesn't make any difference to the buyer. I clicked on 'buy now' and was taken to a screen where i was prompted to give my credit card details.

When i had finished a screen said 'this credit card is already being used by another account"...hmmm. Im pretty sure i dont even have a paypal account. Anyone know what this all means. I dont wanna keep bidding on things and then not being able to pay for them, lol. I think my EBAY experience will be short lived if i keep upsetting the regulars. aha.

I tried emailing ebay and paypal and got two automated responses that were no use whatsoever.

If you had already paid one Ebay transaction using a credit card then you probably have used Paypal without realising it. However, if you are unsure contact your credit card company and pretty quickly.

It's a bit difficult to use PayPal without knowing it....... There is a lot of blah blah you have to go through to set an account up.

I just don't know. I ve checked my bank account balance, and it is as it should be, so luckily it doesn't look like someones going paypal crazy with my credit card or anything. It is as if i have registered that credit card with a paypal account before, but i have no recollection of it, and i've checked my various email accounts and cant find anything from paypal, i.e a registration email for example. All i know is that ive already got one 'ebayer' in a strop. Maybe if i use my brothers credit card on this occasion? Dont know how i go about getting this sorted though. Dont expect paypal can send me the details of the account who apparently uses my credit card, haha...hmmm

I 'm confused!!?? You cant use paypal without a password. Ebay are pretty good about replying ,you always get an automated responce first. I would never pay by c/c direct. set up a PayPal account and
beware of false emails asking for c/card verification!
