Hey everybody,

Firstly for those going to use the 3 duck's system, congratulations, it looks awesome when scrolling through charts and seems to work very well. Indeed, however, I would not look at 3 individual charts as it takes up too much space on the screen etc, rather stick the M5 chart and have the 60, 720 & 2880 MA's on it (as captain currency suggested in the post). Not only does it save space but you can quickly see what the 720 is doing. If this is in a down trend or up. If the 720 is pointing down and the break is to the up, walk away, this is going to be a false breakout 9 times out of 10.

Anywho, as my post suggests, I am looking for a script (not being a programmer myself) that would alert me on my 5 min charts when the price breaks above or below all three 60, 720 & 2880 MA's. Does anyone have scripting knowledge or a script they could pop my way for this please? :D If so I'd be eternally grateful.

A 720 MA on a 5 min chart will not give you the same values as a 60MA on a 1 hour chart. They may be close enough for your needs, but they are definitely NOT the same.

ISTR somebody recently posted up an MT4 ind which provided a visual on the status of the 60MA in each of the suggested 3D TFs.

Here is a smilie for you instead (y), wonder if mr smilies mrs is called Wilma Fingerdo??

Hello samills,

Typicall Irish, always trying to avoid work. Ask your boss to cut your hours or put you on a 3 day week or better still ask him to lay you off, that way you will be able to spend many hours duck watching.

Hi Andy, tnx for the insult. On the 3 ducks trading system you stated the following:

Hello again Paul,

Yes, if you plot a 60 period sma, a 720 sma and a 2880 sma on the 5 min chart that is basically the same as having 1 60sma on the 5min/1hr and 4 hr chart. I prefer to have 3 chart - thats just me!

I'm struggling to see how you want to rep someone, and insult me at the same time when in your words the 5 min chart with these settings are basically the same thing. If you can't remember stating that go back into your thread and read what you said. Are you simple or what is the issue exactly?

Have you visited the Foyer? You wouldnt like it

Hi Andy, tnx for the insult, Lighten up, If I wasnt Irish myself I wouldnt have said it.

Yes your correct I did say that about the sma's, I did think my statement was accurate until thebrambles pointed out the difference.

The rep was intented for thebrambles
when in your words the 5 min chart with these settings are basically the same thing.
Right well maybe if thebrambles has time he could let us know if the difference is huge or not so huge and if I was wrong to use the word "basically" in my statement.

If you can't remember stating that go back into your thread and read what you said.
I believe you, no need for me to troll back

Are you simple Compared to Stephen Fry yes I would be simple or what is the issue exactly? issues, well they go right back from my childhood Sigmund

Well CC tnx for clearing that up, I didn't realise it was a joke as there was no smiley or anything to indicate it was just a dig so you'll understand why I got defensive.

TB if you can't see why I responded the way I did then I guess it's just sad you won't be giving me assistance in future, but oh well such is life....

Just thought I'd try clarify things there dudes.

I have recently started trading on Oanda. I it is not possible to use SMAs over 500. What do you chart in?

3 Ducks doesn't use SMAs over 500.

I know. I was replying to samills70 original post where he talks about putting them all on the same graph. I was pointing out that not only is it not accurate as you pointed out it is also impossible, on Oanda at least.
Thanks

Hey guys, yeah, let me just clarify for those of you who might only read the last post and not the whole thread :)

Originally CC had said the 3 MA's could be used with the the 3 ducks method which I then used and found it to be quite strong. Thebramble corrected him in stating it wasn't the same thing but said it might be sufficient for my purposes which it seems to be.

To test it and have a scroll through it I would suggest opening a dbfx account (btw if only I had the cash to join them their software is the s**t). So you plot the 3 MA's on a graph but you have to then scroll back through the graphs so it automatically backfills the data because you obviously need the 2880 periods to work off of. As for Oanda I looked at their interface but it looks quite sparse and amateur compared to any other broker so I wouldn't use their software for strategy planning. Hope this helps.

BTW If you use MT4 just download the historical data... same idea there.
