The most money I have made in one day just to loose it right away is £8k. For me that was my going bust trade.

Lost around £10k trying to short Oil on the way up last year....

made NOTHING. not a penny so far

Made 20k in 360k at the rate of about 20k a day on oil from 4/08 and lost the lot in one hour in 7/08

I made £1500 in 15 minutes, with one of my first dabbles at spread betting £20 point on the DOW, thought this is easy, then bored the same day after lunch lost £3000 in 8 minutes.

No stop loss, no strategy, bored pure gambling..... this is how market maker bucket shops make there cash. People sat at there computers at work / home playing games on multi coloured screens.

not quite got the hang of this posting to forums yet have you Yatman?

In the mean time, most lost in one morning was circa £76K, by the end of that day I was down £243K.

Greatest gain in one day £84K.

All of that was a long time ago, now if I finish up £100 at the end of the day I'm very happy.

Feckin hell, this is an interesting thread! Most I've lost is 3k stg in one night, most made was 1.4k stg on Eur/Jpy.

Hi All

Yes a good thread and expected more posts! My biggest loss was £2.5k was long Euro at £25 a pip and tired and thought not much is going to happen tonight, woke up 4 hours later and was down 100 pips.

My biggest gain was the 3 weeks it took me to make that money back and some more! Lesson learned!

Money management is 100% key to this game.:D

Some of the bigger and/or routine losses:

Lost: $2,431,500.00 across multiple pairs (once)
Lost: $271,900.00 across multiple pairs (once)
Lost: $52,600.00 across multiple pairs (once)
Lost: Between $1,000.00 to $15,000.00 (many times over the years)
Last Loss on Record: $52,992.00 across a shallow pair aggregate

Some of the Gains on Record:

Max Gain: $3,197,400.00 across multiple pairs (once - personal best/record)
Last Gain: $333,700.00 across 17 pairs (very last trade)

Time in all trade: 1 - 5 days. (aggregate range)

I've been doing better lately, though not completely satisfied with the performance. Signal strength, which controls the money management side of the equation, has been lower than usual over the past two months. However, looking at the underlying causes, I can see why the system decided to down-grade the signals lately. Knowing the system, eventually, when the time is right, it will slowing begin to raise signal strength once again, so I can finally get back into the market will full cost basis on each trade.

But, thus far, I am pleased with the systems ability to detect choppy markets before they come, as that reduces target levels and increases overall accuracy during the lean times. So, maybe I should be happy the system is slamming down the signal strength after all. It keeps me from holding too long through choppy markets while still being able to take out the shallow target levels.

I'm reminded of another site with an equally funny name: EliteTrader. Not very Elite and not many Traders.

One would think that sites with high-performance names would contain high-performance traders.

Funny. Go buy Indianapolis 500 tickets on sale. Show up only to find Go Carts racing at blinding speeds of 45 mph.

People would head for the gates in droves asking for their money back.

Trade 2 Win.

I lost just under $11,000 2 weeks ago.

Not through trading - through my accountants going belly up.

On the bright side.... errr... let me get back to you on that

Oooooh, that's seriously unlucky. What a bummer! I lost the same amount (plus a bit) about 6 years ago, but I didn't have such a good excuse. In fact, no excuse at all, I was just being a fool.

I lost 101 million dollar$ worth of Puts on an airline company that was launching its new prototype aircraft.
I'd paid some geezer to blow it up, but that bloody Bond saved the day again !
