As a modest speculator in the forex market would there be traders here who believe that there are large players in the market or a group of players = to a large player that move the market.

This move being followed by speculators using technical indicators or experience to make profitable trades.

Would it be right to suggest that profitable traders would not have to trade during Bank Holiday weeks = Moves in the forex market for a speculator to make a profit are less likely ?

Forget about BIG PLAYERS
The people who are BIG are not PLAYERS
NO ONE IS BIG ENOUGH unless you think there are PLAYERS willing to take on a Central Bank or

Globe and Mail Update with files from Canadian Press

Toronto — Arcelor S.A., the world's No. 2 steel producer, has made a $4.3-billion hostile bid for Dofasco Inc., Canada's biggest steel maker, to gain a platform in North America.

The Luxembourg-based company said early Wednesday it's offering $56 a share in cash for all of Dofasco's outstanding shares, a 27.3-per-cent premium over Tuesday's closing price. On Wednesday, Dofasco shares jumped 34.1 per cent to $59 in Toronto.

Shares of Hamilton, Ont.-based Dofasco, founded in 1912, soared earlier this month amid speculation the steel maker might be a potential takeover candidate. Analysts have predicted consolidation in the steel industry for months, citing the need to cut overcapacity and competitive pressures.

hmm, a global order, slipping the levels at which they will hold or manipulate prices in order that they subtely fluence the price but its done to make it all look very chaotic. humans being humans, I would like to think. they'd have a jolly good go at it. but who is paying them?

Is there any stats around that says % wise these commercials made x these commercials lost x, large specualtors ditto, and small fry public ditto..

does a $ 10 000 order influence the market as much as $ 10 000 000 order ?

Players. e.g Central banks, CTA's, Hedge Funds, Soros.

A $10 000 order will not start a trend but a $ 10 000 000 000 might.

?????????

You can not see most transactions in forex. I trade as a speculator in the futures market on CME whih claims $41billion dollars a day average liquidity out of the 1.9trillion done Globally.

If you look at the traded amount and time and sales each and every day. You will notice lots of 1-3 contract trades.

But this claim of $41billion must be open interest as it is rare to see more than $10billion traded.
