Hey all, I am a newb and looking for a course or something to get me started in the right direction. I have been told that trading with price action is the way to go and have been recommenced by a friend to try Forex
School Online price action course.

I have watched all their free stuff and it looks good but before I go signing up to anything I would like to know if anyone has tried this course? And what they think?

Thanks,

Jimmy

How much do they want from you? You know you can get the same if not better for free from the james16 thread on forexfactory.com? These people charging you are all out to rip you off, stay clear of them.

take your time, read everything on this site and others, listen to others, watch charts and then decide if you need further help and if you do,check everything out properly.anyone can set up a good website and get a good rep. I haven't looked at the site but Id say that price action is generally visual and very hard to teach

Hey pboyles,

they want $200 for lifetime membership. I asked this same question is another forum today and they sent me to babypips and I read that info however I am looking for a mentor or someone I can have as a teacher.

This james16 you have spoken about sounds interesting. I will find that and have a look. Thanks for the tip! Does he have vids? That's what got me so interested in ForexSchoolOnline was the free vids.

Lord,

thanks for your tips. Although I am only a newb I agree Price Action looks tuff, but for some reason it strikes a chord with me and I think I want to explore it further. I will check all this stuff out.

Thanks heaps,

Jimmy

Perhaps you should ask yourself why an alledgedly successful trader would want to waste his time helping a bunch of clueless losers for 130 bucks a month ?

Then perhaps you should invest the first months tuition fee's with Dun and Bradstreet and obtain the annual accounts of some of the people you are considering paying (assuming they actually file accounts).

That should give you enough info to get started. I'd happily bet that most people wont do it

Buy a pen, buy a notebook, grab some free charting and a demo account, pencil a couple of years free time into the diary and start taking trades. Its a lot quicker and a lot more effective than looking for help that isnt there.

Not a fan of james16? Haha

I checked it out and it all looks fine and I am only in the free thread.

Hmmmm thanks for your tips though. It's tough being new at this. Where do you go? Who do you trust? Who's opinion do you take as gospel?

I can tell you where not to go

Forums are really damaging to the development of new traders, the sooner you can drag yourself away the better.

A reasonable rule is to trust noone. Thats not because they are untrustworthy (although most people offering advice in return for a fee generally are), its because advice is context sensitive. What works in one specific set up, completely fails when applied in a different context.

The only antidote is testing, and verifying for yourself if something is true or false, but even that isnt as simple as it sounds.

I should have made it clear that I was referring to the free j16 stuff not the paid stuff. Yes don't pay anybody.

Why do you hate James16 so much Hare?

All they are teaching on there is looking at S/R pivot points and how price reacts at these points, that is pretty much it as far as I can see. Obviously they go into more detail but essentially that is the trading strategy... I'm sure everyone must look at these points even if they are not a swing trader? They also look at consolidation breaks which is a pretty common strategy.

Not trying to start an argument just genuinely curious?

Look more and more at charts and see how they react at certain levels print them out and compare analyze and action will get your further than these courses.

Hey Jimmy /all

I am a member of Forexschool online, its a great site for paid members, yes there is a lot of free stuff around, but information overload can lead to confusion, once I settled on priceaction trading my trading was up and down like a yoyo, I lacked a good trading plan and discipline, but what I lacked most of all was effective trade management. I have not found enough free stuff on this to really jump the hurdle that I needed to, every one just talks about risk/reward ratio's like 3:1 risk 100 to make 300 so if my trade goes to 299 then reverses, I lose 100 pips. There has to be a better way to do business a lot of people teach nice trade entry's but effective trade management is what sets consistently profitable traders apart, this is what Johnathon teaches and what is discussed in the blog, traders post up their trades and how they will manage them, we all comment and discuss this and learn from eachover as well as Johnathon, well worth the small outlay to get your trading on track and be part of an active trading community.
