Hi,

So just really got into trading FX seriously, anyway I'm with IG Index and I like their setup however the one concern is their charts do you think their good enough to professionally trade the Forex?(I'm on basic charts)

I also can't seem to find the Dollar Index on their platform however i will look again,

If not can any1 reccomend any chart progams for me as I'm getting a bit down this is the last step in the jigsaw for me but it seems complicated!

Depends what you want to put on them doesn't it? They have all the indicators there so I don't see why you can't chuck them all up if you're that way inclined.

Alternatively you can use meta trader for charts (but I don't like them as much as others.) No $ index on IG as far as i'm aware.

Yea it's crazy isn't it?

So I'm supposed to have leant that the euro follows the Dollar Index yet for some crazy ass reason IG don't seem to have the $ Index on their charts :(

I do like IG though- nice and simple which is good :)

Do they have the Dollar on this advanced package?

Thanks in advance.

The charts are good.

In terms of prices, I can't speak for FX as that's a bag of gash for numpties (just kidding).

But futures I can talk about, and the prices were identical or extremely close to the actual ones when I was running two charts next to each other, so no issue there.

Spreads are OK, overall IG is a good choice I think for anyone apart from scalpers, at least until you get very serious. Once you start doing some good size, and if you want to stick with SB, Prospreads or that new outfit that's posting on here are probably worth a look.

Don't think so.

So how can you trade Forex? I mean I'm only a newvie but the whole point is u follow the Dollar Index right? I mean that contradicts with everything I'm being taught if u can't get follow the $ Index.

I mean I know you can but i'm disaapointed and throws a great spanner in the works for my FXtrading if they don't have the Dollar.

Woaaah there! Dollar index and forex are two different things. Forex is forex and the dollar index is, erm, an index.

If you want to trade forex, you should look at EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY etc etc. Or if you want to trade futures, 6e, 6b etc.

If you want to trade the dollar index you're looking at an ICE contract, although I can't remember the ticker. I don't trade it myself.

You said you are new, and I'm inclined to agree. Have a look at babypips for a bit of basic background.

LOL you're joking right? Look mate just crank up the advanced charting package and have a look, it's all in there. IMHO it's the best free *stand alone* package linked to an SB firm out there bar none..

Now how you want to trade the dollar is a different issue which is were a few of the guys are getting crossed wires, I'm presuming you just want to trade the spot FX pair EUR/USD..correct? If so IG are fine, as is the package/platform unless you're paying for a G.S. which makes it gash...

htf did Paziena escape my ignore button..you alright Son? ;)

Hey BS,

Good thanks, hope you're doing OK too.

I'm sick of getting banned, plus the kindness of the markets is making me mellow, so what say we bury the hatchet?

To the OP, open up your account, go to forex on the left, spot or whatever it's called, and open up "majors" or "major". Plenty to be going on with - USD against quite a few things, if you want more there's crosses in the major currencies, index futures, commodities like oil, gold, silver and whatnot.

Black Swan is right about guaranteed stops, avoid them they're a total waste of time.

Just to point out that the USDX is a basket of currencies vs USD .

I just went on their website I'm probably just being lazy here but do they charge for the advanced charts? I can't find it I was under the impression you had to make 30 trades a months when i checked it out before however wanted to confirm.

Not if you make 2 trades per month - then they're free. If not, they charge you something, not a great deal though from what I can recall.

2 trades per month Sweet' that can be at like 50p a point right? That's sweet yea I do like IGs charts and it'll be nice If I don't have to go tinkering around with a brokerage which baffle me.

That's right I think on most things. Depends, some have higher minimums, ES is £10 and so on.

IG are fine, at some point you might want to move, but it doesn't take much work to get your head around using an actual broker instead of a bucket shop.
