Testing Strategies

Do all traders on here test out their strategies on demo account before going live? Have they ever noticed a significant difference in results between both except the emotional aspect of course?

Are you related to UNREAL by any chance?

I carry out a chart check going back as far as I can - a couple of years if necessary - to check that the set-up I have in mind is a real one and is a useful precursor to the conlcusion I want. Then a limited amount of backtesting - perhaps 20 trades - to establish target and stop levels and check the pattern really is current. The straight in with real money, small at first, building up quickly. But money management is more important than any amount of testing and research.
