Can anyone tell me if there is any spread betting companies out there that use the Metatrader 4 platform on Forex trading.

It is a quite remarkable platform I agree. I have to learn the native language though and I need to find time for that.

Any good books out there?

I am quite new to forex, but I like MetaTrader and read that ActivTrades are one of the only brokers to give direct access to liquidity providers via MetaTrader platform. I'm thinking of giving it a go. Anyone know any more about this service or this broker?

First of all : i think we need 2 know what s the metatrader 4 means
MetaTrader 4 is an online trading platform designed for financial institutions dealing with Forex, CFD, and Futures markets.

The platform includes all necessary components for brokerage services via internet including the back office and dealing desk.

Currently, over 100 brokerage companies and banks worldwide have chosen all solution to meet their high standards of business performance.

Some time ago I was about to sign up live with a broker running a Metatrader platform but doing some homework I stumbled upon this warning:
MT4 Brokers' Virtual Dealer Plug-In

I have to admit, I am a Metatrader fan but, after doing some research I reconsidered going live with a broker using this platform. Personally, I will use it only for charting.

Is there anyone having a real account with this platform?

Thanks,
JR

I have a real account with alpari metatrader and I spent a while comparing them with the ECN EFX and I never once saw a discrepancy nor problem. Delays happened with both brokers and prices always matched near enough across both and netdania.

This is great for newbies to have someone to blame but its all ******** IMO.

Good to hear that ... and I do agree with you on newbies stuff (y)

I didn't have the chance to trade real on Metatrader and was looking to get some good feedback.
On the other hand, I liked the ATC Brokers Metatrader feature regarding the ECN side of it, but I am looking into the secured funds side of story, too. In Canada this problem is solved but we have access to limited brokers and they don't run Metatrader platform.

By the way, how is Alpari platform running in terms of speed and fills, if you don't mind?

Thank you for your input and wish you a great one

On the whole, not so bad. Like I say, even with ECN's you can't guaranteed an immediate fill!

One thing I notice though with Alpari is there is always a delay the longer its been since you last traded. If you are constantly in and out, fine, but if its only a trade every day or so, then it takes a few seconds longer. A bit odd but nothing to cry about.

I wouldn't try scalping with Alpari but neither would I with say, EFX, if a decent size.

I had seen ATC were integrating metatrader and waiting to see how it pans out atm.

I went to the ODL site and they do spread betting but from an online platform not metatrader it seems. Does anyone know of a SB broker which uses metatrader? Because I use it with alpari and i love it! But I dont want to get taxed anymore, if it's possible...

Any other companies that may do this?

I have been advised by more than one broker that it is not possible to Spread Bet using MT4 - you have to use their on-line client interface. ODL have MT4 for Forex Trading and an entirely separate interface for Spread Betting. Alpari do not do Spread Betting at all.
I hope someone can prove me wrong as I like MT4 and don't want to change at this stage.

MT4 timesaving tip -

window - "tile horizontally" or "tile vertically"

selecting one of these organsises all your open charts into equal sized squares/rectangles within the window. I wasnt aware of this and had previously resized each chart window manually - by draffing the edges....
