Default Short Term Trends (When to Jump On)

Hi guys,

Looking for a little bit of guidance here, when it comes identifying the start of a new trend, and when to jump on boad. I am currently using MA of (5, 15) for end-of-day data, and Stochastics
%K (7) %D (3) and smoothing at 3. I will only jump on a new trend, when Stochastics are either in the overbought region, if trend is down, or if Stochastics are in the oversold region if the trend is up. Are there any other technical indicators which I could use, and how to use them to identify, if a new trend has started, and getting on it in the right direction at an early stage. Any ideas, or resources I could read on this subject would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks,
Baz
