Whats the best platform/broker to use to trade UK shares?

I have heard of self trade and Haregreaves Lansdown.

What would be cheapest/least commsion.

I am a newbie who who has looked at forex but t also wants to take advantages of share price movements for individual companies.

Or would it be beter for me to open a micro account and do spread trades/cfds for each share or buy outwright?

Many thanks:)

ps hope this makes sense!

I trade shares/ forex for a living and have several accounts. I use TD Waterhouse as my main for buying stocks currently £7.50 each way
I also use IG for CFD and a couple of others. I always buy outright if I can in the belief that if things go a little wrong I can hold indefinitely. ( never had much need of cfd-once its gone its gone forever) Luckily I can afford to do this and run quite a substantial portfolio. If you are new to this then I would stay away from CFD as they can wipe you out very quickly if they go t>>>ts up. Trade only what you can afford
good luck

Thanks for the Prompt reply.

Other trading in an ISA is there any other way of avoiding capital gains/tax?

Also what resources do you use to moitor performance or use technical analysis?

Cheers!

If you win then just pay the tax ---I have ADVFN for my info and charts--Personally I use S&R (pivots etc) a lot as well as MA`s
