Hello eveyone!

Okay so this place is full of very experienced traders and a mammoth amount of information so I thought I would try and tap into it.

Currently I have all day to trade which in some ways I am not sure is a good thing because it lends itself too over trading, mainly because a little bit of boredom can creep in. What I would like to know is how the full time traders out there spend your days. Do you have specific routine to keep to, markets to watch, papers to read etc.

Just for info currently I trade just FOREX Eur/D and Cable. I paper trade oil (mainly because I keep getting my **** kicked everytime I try and trade it. So far I am breaking even but I am not where want to be which is getting a 60%+ run of winning trades. I tend to use technical analysis consisting of a combination of MACD and Stochastic charts.

So how do people best spend their days....I know this is a very open question.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Listen to the radio!! I don't mean vacuous programs, but select some good stuff from the BBC Iplayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/

I have been listening to a repeat of the Sherlock Holmes series.
Stick to the shorter 30-minute programs.
There are drama programs, comedy programs (Ed Reardons Week is excellent).
There are some good science ones on Radio-4 and 7.
I recently got hooked on the Factual - Life Stories section. Loads of biographies to listen to.

DONT distract yourself with TV. Keep your eyes open on charts and alerts.

If you're really bored, you could wind up the spammers that turn up on T2W.
Alternatively, sign up to a skype room with fellow traders.

I don't take a huge amount of notice of anything else. The flip-side of over-trading is paralysis if you start taking note of too much information, which results in contradictory analyses.
Keep a note of ForexFactorys calendar to guide yourself around the news.

Keep a blog of your analysis and trades with screenshots, helps with fighting the boredom. You can create one for free at blogspot.com

That sounds like a good way to intensify the boredom levels even more.

Forums. I belong to various forums for my various interests. I tried trading chatrooms but hearing someone taking a trade then someone else taking a trade, I started over-trading. At least with interest forums, you can focus on the reasons why you trade.

But mostly, I spend my time...

Oh, also fitness training. 10 press ups here, 10 pull ups there, it adds up. Learn an instrument?

golf ? take 2 hours out of each day to go hit the range ?

and/or get an exercise bike and treadmill, watch your charts from the machines, but don't allow yourself to start new trades or fiddling with existing ones, while you're still on your allotted rep, be it 10 minutes, whatever

Thanks all, some really useful stuff, I do like the idea of winding up the spammers. I never realised how much of it was on the forum!

Cheers

I pretty much just scout out the s/r levels I would be interested in trading at, set some alerts and turn the volume way up, then keep myself busy by cleaning the house or doing some pushups like someone else said or just reading.
