Hey I've been reading around on the site for quite a while now it seems really great so I thought id say Hi !

(and ask for some advice

)

My situation:
*im 19 from the UK
*got savings 5-10k
*Id like to day-trade / swing trade the US markets (s&p 500) (how ? and are there extra costs involved? )
*Id like to paper trade for a while could anyone suggest some good simulators?

Welcome to the site man. Congrats on getting started early. Put in the time and effort and don't try to take shortcuts. You won't find any shortcuts that work in this business. Papertrade your **** off until you find a strategy that works and clicks with you. I trade eminis and have a journal going on here you can check out with the link below. I try to put up as many videos as possible, but it's hard to catch every trade. You can get an idea of my strategy by watching my videos. Anyways, good luck with your journey and if you need any help let me know as I'm always wanting to chat about trading.

That is brilliant, cheers. Would be cool if it displayed stochastics and allowed me to draw trendlines etc though.

Thanks for the welcome. I read a bit of your journal and I'll definately read it properly later. It resonated with me, especially the part about hating having a boss haha.

If you dont mind me asking, what software did you use to paper trade?

I've used several different simulators and to be honest I don't believe in them to heavily, but I recommend finding one that makes it more difficult than reality as far as getting orders filled. It's really up to you to be true to yourself when using a simulator. If you cheat using a simulator then it's gonna be a nasty thing when you start trading live. Good luck man.
