Lending out shares !!!!

I have a significat holding in BP shares.

How would I go about writting options to earn extra income from the shares ?

Assuming you have an account with your broker which permits a buy/write strategy, all you do is a "sell to open" trade. If you're not sure if you have options trading ability through your brokerage account, you might not. Brokers in the US generally require you to do extra paperwork for that sort of thing, but I'm not sure about in the UK.
