I have been hearing about trading platforms specific to commercial real estate . Can anyone give me an idea how these work? I have heard a few explanations from some colleagues who only know bits and pieces.. which doesn't help. Anyone?

Ok one thing I recall being mentioned... asset based trading? I don't know if this helps?

Just make sure you don't have to put your property up as margin!

Don't know anything about any trading platforms. As far as I am aware, apart from the obvious CMBS mkt, commercial property also trades on a TRS (total return swap) basis. The underlying is the IPD All Property Index.
