Hello,
I started spread betting at the beginning of the year and I've had some reasonable success. However I would like to start backtesting a proper strategy and would be grateful if anyone could suggest a provider that can just give me raw historical data (+10 years) for a resonable fee as I am a programmer and can happily write my own programs.
That is, of course, unless someone can say "look just use xyz.com they are great" because what you can do is, say, using a defined break out system, calculate over the last x years how many trades a system would have made - how many would have stopped out with a loss and how many would have run a profit. I would prefer to see the numbers rather than just stare at charts.
I'm currently using CS, but was planning to open an account with IG since their charting looks miles better, but I don't know if it would do the above.
