Mechanics of a Trailing Stop

Hi, I am using the Global Trader platform for spreads.

I am a little confused with how a trailing stop function works.

I understand that I need to set a trailing stop value and that this only gets activated once the market has moved in my favor, to the value that I set. eg 10 pips

Does the trailing stop then reset the stop loss and does it do this on each full increment of 10 pips ?

Is the platform MetaTrader? That only moves your TSL when you've got the same amount of profit as your initial stop.
