Hi guys,

I am a beginner , would like to know if I need to take any exams required by FSA in order to be a trader. As far as I know, this is the case for stockbrokers.

Thank you.

You need a GCSE in Money Management, A level Psychology and Mathematics and an economics degree in statistics and methodology! If you want to even come CLOSE to understanding what a moving average is.

Thanks. I get an Bsc in economics, that may help. Would like to know are there any compulsory exams set out by the FSA for traders?

No! All you have to do is break open your Piggy bank and put your pennies into a spread betting account and you are a trader! Simple.

.... You also need 5 A's at a-level or you're not allowed to plot EMA's on the graph - its illegal.

What sort of trader do you want to be? Market maker, sales-trader, exe, prop, quant, home, etc

You don't need anything unless you are handling client money and orders. For example, if you were a futures sales-trader, you would need to be FSA approved and would need an SII in financial derivatives.
