Q1 - If, outside trading hours the FTSE Rolling Day and FTSE Future in spread betting derive from the US markets, what influences the US markets outside its trading hours? (0930 - 1600 NY time). The US markets are 24hrs in operation..

Q2 - Can one guarantees that the FTSE opens higher/lower at 0800 depending on the US markets movement overnight?

No, anything can happen, the Us might be up 250 at the close but may have hot resistance and be expecteds to retreat in the next session so FTSE may open lower
