Oil v Gold

I'm just starting off in the banking world and have taken a particular interest in oil and gold. I am considering shorting gold and holding onto oil in the long run. I have come across an oil stock also that has been increasing over the last week while most oil prices are dropping.

I'm looking for any views or idea's of what people think. Thanks for any comments in advance.

I trade oil full-time and am bearish still.
